SOLE Frequently Asked Questions

Climbing Wall

The climbing wall membership costs $15 and is good for an entire calendar year (starting at the date you sign up). A climbing membership includes the use of SOLE’s harnesses and climbing shoes at no additional cost. Chalk is available for purchase through SOLE and is not provided by staff.

Yes! During your climbing wall orientation you will be prompted by SOLE Staff to create a rec account so you can check in at our desk. You will also be required to pay a day pass at the front of the building each time you use the buildings services if you are not a student.

Trips, Clinics, & Classes

You can register in person at SOLE or online at https://campusrec.uccs.edu/. Just go to the webpage and click on the registration icon. From here  choose SOLE as your classification and pick the trips or courses you would like to register for. Note!  You do need to log-in or create your profile prior.

UCCS Students and Gallogly Recreation Center Members Only unless otherwise specified.  All certification courses such as NOLS Wilderness Medicine courses are open to everyone including public.  We also allow anyone to participate in the free clinics and other free offerings.  To inquire, please contact the SOLE Center.

Yes, if a trip is full there is potential someone may drop out and a spot may open. If you’d like to be put on a waitlist, please come into SOLE and let our front desk staff know and they will place you on the waitlist.

All trip sales are final and will not be refunded. That said, please make sure you can attend the trip you sign up for before you register.

Rental Equipment

Come on in and we’ll get you set up for your next adventure! Rental items are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.  Prices vary pending on item and duration of rental.  For any late returns, you are charged the daily rate for each individual item for every day the item is late.

Yes you can, but whoever is on the rental contract (the individual who pays for the rental) is responsible for any late fees or damages to the equipment.

Yes, a friend or family member can return your rental gear for you, however if there are damages to the item or it is late, fees will be collected at the time of return so that individual may be charged.

No, unfortunately at this time you cannot reserve rental gear, fortunately we often have enough gear to fit your needs without having to reserve any equipment.

Good news! Skis and snowboards are available to rent at SOLE and are subject to size and availability. * Skis and snowboards cannot be reserved.

Our operating hours are Monday – Friday from 12:00pm to 9:00pm. Rentals can only be returned during our operating hours. You can schedule pickup times if we are closed and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Email sole@uccs.edu to arrange special pickup and drop off times. 

Ski and Bike Shop

Yes, SOLE offers a variety of wax pass options.  We offer the following:  $5 for 1 wax & $10 for 3 waxes || Take home kit is $5 for the day or $12 for the weekend

Yes, skis and snowboards can be dropped off and our staff can ptex, wax and edge your equipment all for $15 and $20 for UCCS Community.  Average turn-a-round is under 24 hours but pending on quantity can take up to 48 hours. Ask the SOLE Center Staff for the time estimate.  We try to have all drop offs done by end of business day of the day the item was dropped off if possible.

Nope! The tools in the bike shop are free for use by students and Gallogly Recreation Center members. You cannot borrow tools or take them out of the bike shop however. If you need help in the bike shop our student staff will be happy to point you in the right direction. If you need extensive repairs or work that requires staff to dedicate time to working on your bike, we do offer bike shop services such as bike tunes and repairs for a fee.
