Facility Access, Activities, and Programs FAQ

 

UCCS Campus Recreation Facilities, Programs, and Services Update August 18, 2021
 

Beginning Wednesday, August 18, 2021 until further notice, here’s what to expect:

  • All UCCS students, faculty, staff, members, affiliates, and associates as well as non-members will be required to scan in and out of the Rec Center for contact tracing purposes, utilizing their UCCS credentials or the UCCS Campus Rec app, membership card, or sign-in as a non-member.  

  • All non-members will need to complete the UCCS Wellness Check prior to arriving and confirm their completion of the wellness check with our guest services team to access Campus Recreation facilities.   

  • Our Campus Recreation team members will continue to perform thorough sanitization cleaning cycles every 90 minutes throughout the day and after equipment is utilized.  All Campus Recreation team members will be required to wear a mask unless otherwise specified while working indoors.  Masks will not be required when working outdoors, but strongly encouraged for those that are unvaccinated. 

  • All guests will be required to properly wear a mask upon entry to the Rec Center and while observing recreation activities.  Masks may be removed once guests arrive at their destination of recreation to participate in their desired recreation activity unless otherwise specified.  Masks will be strongly encouraged for unvaccinated guests and participants when recreating outdoors.      

    • Recreation Center Hours of Operation - Monday – Thursday 6am-10pm and Friday 6am-9pm, Saturdays 10am-8pm and Sundays 12-9pm

    • Fitness Center – all cardio and strength fitness equipment has been physically distanced a minimum of 6 feet between machines or taken out of operation to provide adequate distancing.  Participants not actively engaged in recreation shall wear a mask.  Partner workouts are permitted, and those that live in the same household or are part of the same cohort do not need to wear masks.  Those that are not, need to wear a mask. 

    • Track – participants are not required to wear a mask when actively participating in recreational activities on the track.

    • Group Fitness & Small Group Training Classes - offered with a minimum of six feet of physical distancing between participants.  Masks may be removed while participating in their physical recreation activity.  Instructors will maintain a minimum of 6 feet of distancing from class participants if they choose to remove their masks to instruct their class.  Instructors will maintain a participation chart that denotes the location of each participant in their class.   

    • Personal Training – personal trainers shall wear a mask while instructing unless a minimum of 6 feet of physical distancing can be maintained with their client.  Participants and trainers may remove their masks while participating in their physical recreation activity and while participating outdoors. 

    • Fitness Buddies - participants and fitness buddy leaders may remove their masks while participating in their physical recreation activity and while participating outdoors alongside their buddy. 

    • SOLE Center – climbing wall participants will need to wear a mask when unable to maintain a minimum of 6 feet of distancing.  Masks need to be worn while participating in the bike repair shop, gear repair shop, equipment/gear rental program, and ski/board wax shop as well as the climbing wall seating area.  Overnight trips require a minimum of 10 feet of distancing for sleeping arrangements unless participants are from the same household/cohort.  All participants will be required to wear a mask during the transportation portion of any SOLE trip unless they are from the same household/cohort.  All outdoor activities do not require masks for staff and participants.  Hours of operation – Monday through Friday – 12-9pm, weekends available by appointment only.

    • Aquatics Center – masks must be worn while walking about the pool deck and when not actively participating in aquatics recreation activities.  Lifeguards will not wear a mask but will maintain a minimum of 6 feet of distancing between themselves and participants due to the nature of their lifesaving work responsibilities and associated risk.  Hours of operation – Monday through Friday 6-8am, 11am-1:30pm, 4-9pm, Saturdays and Sundays 1-5pm.  

    • Sports: Intramural & Club – participants may remove their masks to practice and participate once they arrive at their destination of recreation.  Campus Recreation team members shall wear a mask indoors.  Outdoor activities will not require masks.   

    • Open/Drop-in Recreation (gyms, table tennis, foosball) - participants may remove their masks to practice and participate once they arrive at their destination of recreation.

    • Youth Programs – participants may remove their masks to participate once they arrive at their destination of recreation.  Staff members will be allowed to remove their masks indoors when participating with youth in physical exertion activities. 

    • Safety, Learn-to, Cooking, and Additional Class Offerings – participants will need to wear a mask when 10 feet of distancing cannot be provided in the class offering.  Class instructors must be a minimum of 10 feet away from class participants to remove their masks to provide instruction.  Instructors will maintain a participation chart that denotes the location of each participant in their class.    

    • Special Events – large special events require staff and participants to wear a mask throughout the duration of indoor special events.  Outdoor special events do not require participants or staff to wear masks. 

    • Social Spaces (lounge, corridors, seating areas) – masks must be worn by all guests utilizing these spaces.

    • Locker Rooms, Restrooms, Showers – masks must be worn by all guests utilizing these spaces except when showering.

    • Massage chair – masks must be worn while seated in the massage chair.

    • Lockers, Cubbies, Water Fountains & Bottle Filler Stations – these amenities are open for use by our guests.

    • Guests can view a live tracker of our current facility occupancy by visiting https://campusrec.uccs.edu/FacilityOccupancy. Guest can also view the current facility occupancy on our app by clicking on the “Facility Occupancy Counter” icon.

    • Alpine Field is currently open for drop-in recreation Monday – Thursday 6am-10pm and Friday 6am-9pm, Saturdays 10am-8pm and Sundays 12-9pm. Equipment check-out is offered at the Recreation & Wellness Center Guest Services desk (font desk). Please note that there may be times the field is offline/unavailable due to programs, activities, maintenance, and club sport reservations.  Masks are not required.

    • Trails System – open dawn to dusk for trail excursions.  Masks are not required.
