Sexual Assault Nurse Examinations

Students that have been sexually assaulted may be seen by a medical provider at the UCCS Wellness Center during office hours at no charge. The UCCS Wellness Center is able to provide a confidential consultation that includes resources available to victims, medications for the prevention of pregnancy and certain sexual transmitted infections and testing if needed. The UCCS Wellness Center is unable to provide SANE exams.

If a student comes to the Wellness Center seeking a medical forensic/evidence exam (Sexual Assault Nurse Examination - SANE) after a sexual assault, they will be referred  to UC Health Memorial Central which provides this service. SANE exams are offered through the emergency room at the Central location 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Students that are unable to find transportation to UC Health Memorial Hospital on their own may contact Yellow Cab at 719-777-7777. For students requesting a SANE exam that have a financial barrier to accessing transportation and/or services, please contact the Wellness Center about funds that are available for SANE visits.
